1918: Author Madeleine L’Engle was born in New York City.
When she was just five years old, she knew she wanted to be an author.
As an adult, she wrote plays (which she sometimes acted in), short
stories, and novels for adults and children. Her most well-known
children’s book is A Wrinkle in Time, which was rejected by 26 publishers before one finally said yes. It became a movie in 2018. A Wrinkle in Time has
